Dougal Morrison - Offset Disc Customer Review + Video

Meet Dougal Morrison, the man behind the success story of St. Peters Pass, a sprawling sheep and cattle property in Tasmania.
"We generally have a feed deficit during winter, so we need to grow around 250 ha of fodder crop each year, mainly grazing brassicas for young stock throughout winter," Dougal shares.
"Previously we had two smaller machines running, but since we’ve gone to just the one tractor and set of offsets, we’ve had significant efficiency gains. We’ve been able to cover more ground than the two machines were able to do previously,” Dougal explains.
In 2021, Dougal reached out to Delmade to explore options for purchasing a new Delmade Folding Offset Disc. “It took us a little while to decide on what machine we wanted,” Dougal recalls. “But we already had one set of Delmade Discs and they were definitely the pick of the two and the more we looked into, the more people said they were probably the best option for this property.”
In November 2021, the Morrisons took delivery of their new Delmade 1075 SP Series N40 plate. The SP model is equipped with larger axles and plates. “We went for the bigger plate and the heavier duty frames on this machine just because of the conditions we would be working we do have a lot of steep and rocky ground on this property.
“The discs do a really good job in these conditions with the rock and turf we have here; it suits this property really well.”
“Probably our favourite thing about the Disc is the Oil Bath Bearing since we’ve had both sets of Discs, we are yet to change a bearing on this machine or the previous machine from Delmade that we own.”
The 40 plate unit in the Folding Range features a narrow wheelbase ideal for transport. “We are really pleased we chose the narrow frame on this Disc, it really helps us with transport up and down the road as well as getting through gates or across cattle grids.”
Reflecting on his experience with Delmade, Dougal expresses his satisfaction. “When you call Delmade asking for a part they are able to find exactly what you need, they just know what you want and get it down here as quick as possible. Our experience with Delmade has been really good so far, we’ve always been able to get parts really quickly and the service has always been really good”.
“The property here is very diverse ranges from arable flats all the way through to rough and rocky hills and we thought that these Delmade Discs were capable of performing in all of those areas with just the one machine.”
“It’s been a great machine we haven’t had any issues with the machine itself we had one broken bolt in a couple years which is a great result for us compared to the amount of repairs and maintenance we were doing on the other machine. The robustness and durability of the machine has been fantastic.”
