Closing the Loop: from the farm to the manufacturer

Delmade is proud to partner with Maschio Gaspardo to offer quality products to the Tasmanian market and landholders here can rest assured that their feedback is being listened to and acted upon by the manufacturer.

Maschio Gaspardo operates from state-of-the-art facilities in Italy, specifically in Campodarsego and Cadoneghe, Europe's technological powerhouses. These facilities specialise in various cutting-edge processes such as laser cutting, robotic welding, bending, turning, and the production of tines and blades.

It is within these tech hubs that a range of cultivation machines, including the Falco and Aquila power harrows and the innovative Centauro two-in-one tiller and driller, are designed and engineered for the Australian market.

Understanding the needs of farmers and contractors is crucial. Efrem Toninelli, Maschio's product manager for seed drills, vegetable planters, power harrows, and rotary tillers, emphasises the formal reporting and feedback process that connects the global branches with the R&D team. This communication loop ensures that product development aligns with the specific needs of the market.

Toninelli shares insights “I know Australia has been testing a coulter with carbide plates on it to improve the wear resistance. For the Pantera rotary hoe, I know the one prototype has been made with anti-clogging based on feedback from Queensland.”

“We are in contact with any branch we have worldwide. We are the link between the market and R&D and try and steer product development towards what we see could suit the market better.”

The collaboration between end users, dealerships, and manufacturers proves vital, considering the diverse applications and regional conditions across sales territories. Detailed feedback becomes the driving force behind product improvement and innovation.

Maschio is not resting on its laurels; plans include the evolution of a universal seed drill combined with a disc harrow and a significant investment in smarter farming machines. Matteo Piassa from Maschio's sales team emphasises the shift towards precision farming, stating, "Everything is moving to precision farming. If we invest in precision farming machines, we will be successful because farmers want to derive the maximum yield for the same amount in the same plot."

Maschio also plans to upgrade the popular Gigante Pressure seed drills and Veloce harrows to offer greater working width which will offer greater range to local farmers.
