Seeding drill delivers results

FARMERS throughout the North-East will now have easier access to a high-quality direct seeding drill, enabling precise seed drilling with minimal pasture disturbance.

Legerwood farming contractor Mark McDougall recently invested in the Gigante six-metre pneumatic direct drill in response to long-term demand from his customers around the region.

Purchased through Westbury agricultural machinery manufacturer, Delmade, this investment complements Mr McDougall’s existing fleet, which includes a Delmade 5.25m folding scarifier, Delmade 1050 series 48 plate offset disc and a 5.28m folding Maschio Pantera rotary hoe.

Mr McDougall said the new seeder has been attracting positive feedback from all his clients.

“There’s plenty of seeders about but they’re not all set up like this,” he said.
“The results speak for themselves. The work we’ve done with it, the farmers have been rapt with it.

“It’s a pressed wheel disk drill so by the next day you can barely see where it’s been in the paddock – it drills a trench rather than tearing up the existing pasture and damaging root matter.”

The pneumatic seed drill can drill straight into pasture, putting down seed and fertiliser at the same time, all with great precision.

A pressurised bin helps deliver uniform seed flow.

“The thing I really like about it is the depth control of it – could be 1mm or 100mm it’s so precise.”

Mr McDougall said he has been purchasing machinery through Delmade for years and is always satisfied with their service and the quality of their gear.
“They are very good to deal with and very professional,” he said.

“They’re pretty open to improving things too – if you buy something and say you could do this with it, they’re quite open to that.”

The Maschio Gaspardo Gigante will be on site at Agfest this year, Site N09 on North Street. We'd love to see you there!
