Maschio Gaspardo's Terminator

A MULCHER TO BE RECKONED WITH

There is an increasing awareness of the benefits of mulching – the process of chopping down crop stubbles and residue and spreading it over the soil. But why is mulching so important?

Put simply, farmers know that healthy soils are the basis for healthy food production, and mulching insulates and protects the soil from fluctuations in weather, especially conserving soil moisture during dry spells.

Crucially, it improves soil diversity and health, protecting organisms that enrich the soil.

Farmers will also attest that mulching inhibits weed growth and regulates soil temperature, while decomposition of mulched crop residue increases soil fertility and water holding capacity.

This is why choosing a robust, effective and efficient mulcher can significantly boost the quality of your soil.

Enter the Terminator.

Designed and engineered by the renowned agricultural machinery specialist Maschio Gaspardo, the Terminator maximises efficiency to deliver a fine mulch even when working at higher speeds. The welded counter blade, found on all models, ensures material is cut cleanly.

There are three models to choose from – Terminator 180, 200 or 250 – with the model number reflecting the working width. Tractor horsepower requirements range from 55hp for the Terminator 180 to 75hp for the Terminator 250.

Each Terminator has a heavy-duty gearbox rated to 100hp with free wheel mechanism, strong frame, side skids and rear roller for adjusting chopping height, while the number of Y blades depends on the width of the model.

Features

Mulching chamber
Designed for the most efficient mulching of grass, crop stubble, brush and vineyard trimmings. The size of the chambers is optimised in order to achieve the highest mulching quality, considering the volume of residue generated by target material.

Gearbox
Will perform under intense mulching load for long working hours, while the free wheel mechanism protects the tractor and machine PTO shafts from sudden stoppage of the PTO.

Counter blades

There are three sets of counter blades built inside the mulching chamber to ensure the finest chopping of crop residue. Their positions are, respectively, in front of the mulching chamber, above the mulching chamber and under the bonnet.

Electronically balanced rotor

The electronically balanced rotor ensures that even at 2200 rpm rotor speeds, operational vibrations are minimised. The helical pattern of blades on the rotor delivers low vibrations, lower power requirement, high working speed, plus uniform chopping size and height.

Floating top hitch bracket

Importantly, the floating top hitch bracket allows the machine to always remain parallel to the ground, thus delivering a constant cut height.

Y blades

Y blades will chop down fresh leafy crop residues such as green manuring crops, legumes and fibrous residues. Unlike a hammer – which leaves a flatter finish – the Y blades leave a slightly undulating finish, allowing the mulched material to break down a lot quicker since there is more air flow underneath the mulched matter. As an added bonus, Y blades are double-sided; once you wear out the cutting edge, simply turn them around.

So, when you need a reliable and powerful mulcher, no matter the scale of your operation, bring a Terminator to the field to protect and enhance your soil.
