Delmade is growing. We are seeking qualified Powder Coaters to meet the demand for our renowned agricultural equipment that is helping to shape the land.

ABOUT THE BUSINESS

Based in Westbury, Northern Tasmania, Delmade is a well-regarded Tasmanian family business operating since 1974 in the beautiful Meander Valley just 20 minutes from Launceston. 

Delmade’s purpose-built blasting and powder coating facility boasts one of the largest ovens in Tasmania and offers a full-service finish for both Delmade and other clients throughout Northern Tasmania.

PURPOSE

The primary objective of this position is to safely and efficiently operate abrasive blasting, zinc powder priming and top coating equipment to deliver a high quality finish for ferrous metal products on time and within budget. The position is also responsible to assist with assembly of finished goods.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supporting these skills will be an in-depth knowledge of metal preparation, pre-treatment, powder application and curing requirements. Key responsibilities will be:

  • Interpret the correct selection and use of equipment, materials, processes and procedures based on production requests
  • Organise jobs prior to coating
  • Quality control of inwards goods and finished product
  • Pre-treatment of various products to be powder coated
  • Load / Unload jobs onto Powder Coat Lines
  • Start and operate equipment safely and correctly in accordance with standard procedures
  • Powder coating of steel products using a manual system
  • Monitor controls/displays/terminals including speeds, operating temperatures and spray conditions as required
  • Make adjustments to remedy faults and non-conformity to standard as required
  • Maintain equipment
  • Assembly of finished goods
  • Other duties as requested as reasonably required by the business

OTHER SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Experience with modern manufacturing practices and technologies
  • The ability to follow control processes in a busy manufacturing environment
  • A strong customer focus where meeting customer expectation for both quality and delivery are of the highest priority
  • Well-developed organisational and time management skills, supported by a high attention to detail
  • A positive and enthusiastic "can do" attitude that will deliver the quality results required.
  • The ability to read and interpret typical product specifications, job sheets and material labels as provided to operators
  • Writing skills to complete workplace forms and production reports
  • Basic numeracy is required, eg to determine how many 2 kg, 3 kg and 5 kg bags are needed to make up a requirement for 50 kg
  • Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and the safety of anyone else who may be affected by your acts or omissions
  • Hold yourself and others accountable for maintaining safety in the workplace

This is a full-time permanent role. The successful candidate will need to agree to a police check, drug and alcohol screen and have a valid driver’s license.
